May Athlete of the Month
Congratulations to our May Athlete of the Month, Dave Cox!
Dave has seen many improvements to his overall health, read how he made his gains below:
When did you first start training at NNCF and how many days a week do you train?
Late January 2018 – I’m a weekday 5 AM’er and train 5-6 days per week.
Tell us about your sports/fitness background:
I’ve always been active in sports – Played hockey since the day I learned to walk (it’s a Canadian thing). Football & Rugby in high school, then recreational sports (hockey / running) in college and beyond…. Once my wife and I started our family, my priorities shifted and I wasn’t quite as active as I could have been, which lead me to research CrossFit
What was your first CrossFit workout and how did it go?
“Thruster Buddy” a 20 minute AMRAP of 2 lap run relay, 12 thrusters each, 16 reps of jumping alternate lunges…. WOW ! I have no idea how I made it to my truck after that workout, but I was hooked and have loved CrossFit ever since!
I like the Power Clean, and really enjoy workouts that include the combination of Lifting, Cardio, and Gymnastics.
Least Favorite Workout:
Thrusters still get me every time… I “respect” them but they are not my favorite…
Why do you love North Naples CrossFit?
The Coaching is Top-Notch & Best-in-Class… I like the fact that each Coach is different in their Approach & Leadership. Their knowledge & individual personalities enhance the workouts in many different ways.
The NNCF community is 2nd to none – It’s very rewarding and motivating to share in the success of others and the NNCF Community does this really well – It could be a simple “high-five” at the end of a tough workout or a big “shout-out” to someone prior to the warm-up…. It’s truly a Fun atmosphere!
Favorite NNCF moment?
For me, it’s that moment in the middle of a workout while soaked in sweat where you find “IT” – Then you are able to push “IT” further than you ever imagined in that workout session…
It amazes me how much my overall health and physical strength has improved since I began CrossFit as NNCF. But just as important (if not more important) is how well my mental strength / mental health has improved as well, and I am so grateful for both!
